Building a personal strategy and capacity for navigating an uncertain future is becoming essential for a successful life.
Our Offering
Atlas seeks to ensure that young people are suitably equipped, stimulated and supported to navigate the uncertainty. We equip young people to engage in strategies to fundamentally change how they traverse through life – in positivity and purpose. This is achieved through building capacity and resilience; being adaptable and ready to seize opportunities; being resourceful and determined; and finally adopting values and attitudes for success – for themselves, and others.
More so, it places the user in ownership of their learning journey, ensuring that a learner is able to confidently explore and define their purpose and engage in active reflection throughout the programme. These programmes build the capacity of a young person to:
- Be more adaptable – develop a mindset that embraces change
- Engage in continuous learning
- Build a strong and well-resourced network
- Nurture sustainability leadership
- Build emotional intelligence, resilience and self-awareness
- Learn to turn ideas into reality
Atlas, using over a decade of experience and connection to youth in South Africa, puts the student in the centre of it all; every step of our thinking, planning and implementing has the end user in mind. The blended nature of content offering supports and encourages students to take charge of their own learning journeys, see themselves as the leaders within their lives and use the skills and tools provided to increase their capacity to effect meaningful change in their environments.
A humanising pedagogy
Our underpinning development principle is a humanising pedagogy that stimulates agency within the learning journey, empowering users to tap into their potential and map their own development path.
The golden thread
Our offering is centred around a Head, Heart and Hands approach, which is a golden thread that runs through our courseware. Head speaks to the knowledge and mindsets needed, heart speaks to the passion, empathy, values and integrity that is needed, while hands speaks to the actions and practical implementation of tools received at a community-based level.
The design model
Our design model is focused around provoking and inspiring conversations and encouraging creative innovative thinking. Through our human-centric approach, in many ways we move away from traditional forms of learning while still committed to a quality standard guided by learning models such as the Kolb’s Cycle of learning.

The development approach
Our approach is based on the KaosPilot methodology - the Art and Craft of Designing and Facilitating Learning Spaces. This methodology allows us to learning as arches. Each arch needs to be consciously set and landed — to create great beginnings, manage great endings and hold the tension in-between for students; whilst creating opportunities for deep reflection throughout the process.
